I own a 1997 CV P71 and I wanted to add a tach to the dash or the A pillar. Has any one had good success with some type of A pillar mounting bracket, I really would rather have it up and out of the viewing area of the windshield. I would like to keep it fairly small so it does not stand out too much.

Why would you put a tach on the A-arm...be a bit difficult to see wouldn't it?

The only tach that should be mounted on the A-pillar is a 5" Autometer Comp-Pro with a red line warning shift light. Anything else is eye candy.
5" WTF!? that's Rer-iculous! lulz.

Here you go man...
you can order the mounts from www.adtr.net as well as the tach driver you'll need and the autometer gauges.
[edit: the mini-tach blocks the speedo but only from 100 and up)
bah, mine is bolted right up on the dash, next to the oil pressure gauge, all BACKWOODS/bracket-car like . . .
up under the spot handle - doesn't obstruct the windshield view at all, and the tach is not the tiny version (but not a monster) The oil pressure gauge is spun off-center in the cap - otherwise the operating range at idle would be behind the spot handle and hard to see. Without a spot this would not be an issue.

It ain't pretty, but it's old-school, it's functional, and it suits my taste (and it's a P71 so lets not kid anybody here - no leather OR lace, just vinyl)
Damn, I gotta clean my dashboard.
btw, Chico's point is that if you have to look closely, you: 1) can't really read the guage without staring; 2) if your ride actually needs a tach, staring at it is a good way to get bent out of shape in a hurry; and 3) if your ride actually needs a tach - all you really need is the shift light and if you really feel the need to see the number you need it REAL big.

Someday, I gotta get into a pawn shop and buy a digital camera. I would take pictures of the Mustang and Focus with the old Autometer two gauge dash domes.
Tach and vac up front above the steering wheel.
