Can someone please suggest an interior wire I can tap into that is only hot when the ignition is on? Optimally, it should be on the passenger side of the cockpit in the wiring look that passes under the glove box.

Thanks in advance.

PS. Where can I get the schematics for the car?

Buy a Ford service CD or DVD from ebay.

The Supplemental Restraint Control Module. Two KEYON B+ wires in the harnesses behind the passenger side kick panel, but you don't wanna go there.

Yeah...I think i would stay away from the airbag module....use a VOM or test light to find an empty slot in the fusebox that is only hot when the ignition is on and just run a wire accross under the dash...there are a few, I tapped one for my CD Changer in both the 98 and the 03...

and it's so easy to get to
The cigar lighter is a possible. No B+ when ignition is in start, though.

Isn't the cigarette lighter hot all the time?

This is for my fog/driving light switches. The cigarette lighter circuit is definitely the most accessible, but if the wire I tap is hot all the time, won't it constantly feed power to the light relay(s) if I leave the switches on?

Yeah, cigarette lighter has B+ all the time...a lot of cars it doesn't, but on the Panthers it does.

I was in the "other" crown vic forums, and someone was asking about a couple of connectors he found under the passenger side of the dashboard. They're both bullet connectors, and one was red while the other was blue, and they apparently plug into the p71 aux fuse block (his car is a P71, but appears to be missing the fuse block itself).

Do all CV's have these connectors? It seems like it would be more cost-effective for Ford to have just one wire loom to produce, but logic isn't always a deciding factor where manufacturing is concerned.

Nope, civi versions dont have the Police Acc feed.

Crap. Well then, I still need someone to recommend a wire to tap into because I want to get this project done this weekend if possible. This means I can't sit on my thumbs waiting for a CD to be delivered. So, if anyone already has the CD and can identify an ignition-hot wire (color, please), that would be most helpful.

Like I said..get a VOM or test light and start probing empty slots in the fuse box under the dash on the drivers side.....

Not on my '05 and it is most annoying. It does come with a power point though.
CD Player? There are one or two (depending on the radio) B+ wires out when the radio is on.

What's a "B+" wire?

I guess I could check the armrest lighter with my test light (duh - sometimes I'm as dense as GWB)...

Battery-13.2 volts
Modules export voltage to power devices and those are not considered B+

B+ = Battery Voltage

Just to satisfy those who might be curious, cigarette lighters are hot all the time in 04...
